I like to start rust weathering with Tamiya NATO Brown (XF-68). This goes on directly over the model’s painted finish. Applied along the roof-panel seam lines this provides the basis for all weathering on the car roof. On these types of cars where the metal panels meet, is where the rust begins. Often there is an ivory anti-rust paint applied to slow this deterioration down.
