03 – Operations design

Introduction

A small layout must have a background story to help the viewer, or the operator, understand the context of the layout. Context provides the setting, and the work done before the viewer or operator get’s there. This article will provide an overview of the context and the details of an average operating session.

I’ll discuss the following (initial) topics:

  • Industries – including information about the days served and the car types received and / or shipped
  • What paperwork is involved in the running of the layout
  • What must be done before operating the layout
  • What must be done at the end of an operating session

There’ll be more once I get to this level of detail and planning.
